Six Different Scorers Lead Raptors to First Win

MaKayla Grant, #3

The Raptors dominated Leroy SC for a 9-0 win to bring them up to 1-1 early in their RDYSL season. Ten different players appeared on the scoresheet. Nikki Creasey opened up the scoring for the Raptors about 5 minutes into the first half off a cross from Maija Young. Not long after, Ella Fadale doubled the Raptors' lead. Abby Scanlan played a pass into the middle of the field to Mack Harmon, who slipped a great through ball into Fadale's feet. Fadale would have the next goal as well, after taking down another cross from Young with her chest and finishing on the volley. Next on the score sheet, against their former coach, was MaKayla Grant, off a cross from her sister, Kenna Grant. Young got in the goal column next for the Raptors' fifth goal. Halee Passarell beat her defender in the middle and split the Leroy defense for a ball through to Young. Rounding out the scoring for the first half was another one from Creasey. After a great win from Kiera Wilson in the Raptors' defensive third, she played a pass forward to Carly Burgess. With a quick turn to beat her defender, she played Scanlan into the attacking third. Scanlan beat her defender endline and tucked a pass back to Creasey for the finish. With a 6-0 lead at half, the Raptors looked to play more heavy possession in the second half. Starting out the scoring in the second was Scanlan. Young played a curving pass through Leroy's defense to find Scanlan on the breakaway. Creasey completed her hat trick about half way through the second. Makayla Grant put a lobbing cross over the Leroy goalkeeper's hands for Creasey's half volley finish on the back post. Finishing out the scoring for the Raptors was Claire Squicciarini, who got some time at forward away from her new spot at centerback. Wilson played a pass into Squicciarini's feet, who turned and beat three Leroy defenders and then ended with a left foot finish into the corner. The Raptors' backline of Squicciarini, Aly Knaak, Aurora Serafin, and Lily Miller played a great game to build the offense from the back and limit Leroy to few very scoring chances. Sydney Mulka earned the shutout in goal, cleaning up any chances that slipped through. With a complete team effort from top to bottom, the Raptors look to build on the success going into their next game. They face Victor SC on Thursday for their home opener at GCC. Kick off is set for 6:30.
