The Raptors faced off against Genesee United Sunday night under the lights at Genesee Community College. Albion took advantage of the large turf field and came out on top 5-0.
Dominating possession from the get-go, the Raptors got an early lead with an unassisted goal from Abby Scanlan. Breaking through her defenders, she was able to get in for a partial breakaway and slip one by Genesee’s keeper. Nicolina Creasey would double Albion’s lead, off an assist from Claire Squicciarini. Creasey received a pass in from Squicciarini, turned on her defender, and put a well struck shot upper 90. Rounding out the scoring for the first half was Squicciarini. Creasey lined up a free kick from the far left side of the field, and placed a great ball into the box, where Squicciarini was able to get a knee on it and pop it up over the Genesee goalkeeper.
The Raptors would continue to dominate into the second half, as Creasey would earn her second assist of the game with another set piece. After her corner kick got through the hands of Genesee’s second half goalkeeper, Halee Passarell was waiting at the back post for the tap in. Finishing off the Raptors’ scoring was Alezya Brown, finishing off great combination play in the box with an assist from Scanlan.
The Raptors’ defense of Aurora Serafin, Charley London, Leah Pritchard, and Alyson Knaak, stood tall and played a great, physical game to contain Genesee United’s forwards and limit their chances. Sydney Mulka earned the shutout in net, making two huge 1v1 saves in each half on partial breakaways.
The Raptors are back in action Tuesday night, traveling to the Fairport Flash for a 6:30 kick off.
