First Win of Season for Raptors Over Cobras

Updated: Jul 1, 2023

Ella Lewis, #2

The Raptors earned their first win of the season Sunday night in a 2-1 win over Cobras FC.

All three goals came during the first half of the game. Ella Lewis started off the scoring on an assist from Nikki Creasey. Creasey played a throughball to get Lewis in behind the defense. After her initial shot was blocked, Lewis found the rebound for a quick chip over the Cobras' keeper.

The Cobras evened the game towards the end of the half on a well struck shot from outside the box.

Quick to respond though was Lewis for another goal to regain the lead. Another assist from Creasey put Lewis in a foot race to goal. Faking a shot to cut inside and beat her defender, Lewis buried her shot back in the corner for the game winner.

Sydney Mulka played the full 90 in net and had an outstanding game to make sure the Raptors never fell behind on the scoreboard. With multiple big saves, shutting down 1v1 opportunities, and being aggressive on crosses, Mulka anchored the defense. The backline of Lily Miller, Ava Wagoner, Aurora Serafin, Kailyn Tresco, and Savanna Scheifla had a solid game defensively to limit the Cobras’ offense and keep the box clear.

Now 1-1 on the season, the Raptors look to go above .500 this Thursday against the Chili Peppers. Kick off is set for 6:30 at Davis Park.
