The Raptors rise back up to a .500 record at the mid way point of the season with a 3-1 win over Victor SC Friday night.
It was Victor who got on the board first early in the game, but the Raptors kept their composure and answered back quickly to tie the game up. Taty Baity won a defensive battle along the sideline before playing Megan Rinker a pass forward. Rinker drove up the field to find Ella Lewis in the midfield, Lewis played Rinker back through where she buried her goal near post.
It didn't take long for the Raptors to take the lead off another goal by Rinker. Winning the ball along the right side of the field, Mack Harmon played a crossed through the box where it got through traffic to find Rinker at the back post.
Goalkeeper, Sydney Mulka, and the Raptors' defense held strong, turning away multiple Victor shots, and stopping scoring chance before they developed. In the final minutes of the first half, Mulka came out to make a 1v1 save on a breakaway. The rebound got away from her and just as the Victor striker was about to finish, Kailyn Tresco came up big with a block on the goal line to maintain the Raptors' lead.
The Raptors continued to control the game in the second half, but only found the back of the net once. Kiera Wilson gained possession in the middle third, and found Savanna Scheifla going forward. Scheifla kept the switch going to Harmon on the far side. Harmon let the pass come across for a well struck, one time finish in the upper corner of Victor's goal.
Looking to continue their current win streak, the Raptors are right back in action against Victor SC on Sunday, July 16 at Victor Central. Kick off is set for 6:30pm.
