The Raptors FC played their final road game Saturday morning against Lakefront SC. They came away with a four point lead in the standings after a 3-2 win.
The first half saw a lot of scoring opportunities for the Raptors, but they just weren't fining the back of the net. The first goal of the game came about halfway through from Olivia Krenning. Lily Miller drove up the wing and sent a cross into the box. Abby Scanlan got a foot on it, but wasn't able to get clean contact. Krenning was there making the run back post to clean up the rebound for an upper ninety shot over the Lakefront goalkeeper's hands. Lakefront had a quality opportunity late in the first half, but Raptors' goalkeeper Liv Eaton came up with a big 1v1 save to hold onto the one goal lead.
The pair of second half goals for the Raptors came off set pieces. Scanlan lined up for a corner kick, playing in a short pass to Aurora Serafin. Serafin played a quick pass back to Scanlan's feet, who chipped a nice cross along the goal line. The lakefront keeper tipped it behind her, and Alezya Brown ran through the ball at the back post for the Raptors' second goal. Brown would come up big for the eventual game winning goal shortly after, on another corner kick from Scanlan. Scanlan put the corner kick into traffic in the box, and guest player Lilly Lashomb out a shot over the Lakefront keeper but off the crossbar. The ball went straight up in the air and Brown once again finished her run through the goal line for a nice header finish. Lakefront was able to pull back within one during the last 10 minutes of play, scoring one on a breakaway and their second on a quick free kick play.
The Raptors have one final home game against current runner up, the Gananda Bandits, on Tuesday August 2. Kick off is set for 7:30 under the lights at SUNY Brockport.
